Big Hurt Constitution (01/28/2018)

----- COMMISSIONER ------

Brian Jones is the commissioner of Big Hurt. All rules questions should go to him. Unless stated otherwise, all regular Scoresheet rules apply to Big Hurt.

-------- PLAYOFFS --------

Along with the division winners, the team with the best record will be a wildcard. It will play the division winner with the worst record in round 1. The winner will advance to round 2 against the other division winner.

--- PROTECTION SLOTS -----

Each team has to protect 11 players. Protection slots may be traded. Each team may protect up to 3 rookies. Rookies are determined using the standard Scoresheet limits (130 abs or 50 innings). Rookie slots may also be traded. Rounds 34 through 36 are the rookie slots. If an owner does not use a rookie slot then that owner may use the pick to choose a player. Each team may protect up to 2 Nlers. The National League slots may not be traded. Rookies count as crossovers (like the old Scoresheet rule) The draft will be conducted by e-mail beginning in February and will last 36 rounds. Protection lists will be due one week after Scoresheet sets the draft lists. The team that loses the first playoff round will draft 8th, the team that loses the championship game will draft 9th, and the team that wins the championship game will draft 10th.

--- CROSSOVERS ---

If a player is on the original list and is signed to a MLB team, that is his league for XOver purposes. If a player who is unsigned at the time of the original list signs before 1/26, he is considered to be in the league they signed for XOver purposes. If a player is unsinged on 1/27, he is considered to be in the last league he played for XOver purposes.

--- MULTI PART TRADING ----

Although multi-part trades are specifically allowed in Big Hurt, we strongly believe that the intent of such deals should never be to unfairly influence the outcome of a pennant race by transferring significant player value to a contending team and then reversing that transfer of value at some point after the close of the season. If a majority of Big Hurt owners believe that any player has violated the spirit of this statement of ethics, the player in question shall be, without exception, expelled from the league. Multipart trades should be identified as such at the time of the trade and all parts explicitly declared.

------- ELIGIBILITY -------

1) Any player on the AL Scoresheet list as by 12:01 AM on the day the draft begins is eligible 2) Any player not on either list who is signed by an AL team by 12:01 AM on the day the draft begins is eligible. 3) Any player on the NL Scoresheet list by 12:01 AM on the day the draft begins is not eligible. 4) Any player not on either list who is signed by an NL team by 12:01 AM on the day the draft begins is not eligible. 5) Any player not on either list, who is unsigned by 12:01 AM on the day the draft begins, will be eligible if he played his last game last year with an AL organization. 6) Any player not on either list who played with an NL organization last year but signed with an AL team between 12:01 AM on the day the draft begins and the start of the season will be eligible in the supplemental drafts but not the spring draft. 7) Any player who didn't play the previous year but is signed with an AL team after February 1 will be eligible for the supplemental drafts in the first supplemental draft but not the spring draft . 8) Any player drafted by an AL team in the previous draft is eligible. He is no longer eligible if unsigned at the time of the new draft (unless drafted by an AL team) 9) You can pick players who signed with Japan if you really want a long shot.

----SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFTS----

Supplemental drafts of 2 rounds each will be held during the 2nd Tuesday of April, May, June, July and August. April's rounds 37 & 38 draft order will be the same as the initial draft. All other drafts will be with the team with the worst record picking first in rounds 39 through 46. In the event of 2 or more teams being tied with the same record when determining draft order in odd years, the higher numbered team will draft first in even rounds and the lower numbered team will draft first in odd rounds. The higher numbered team goes first in rounds 12, 14, 16,...36, 38 etc. In even numbered years, the lower numbered team will draft first in odd rounds and the higher numbered team will draft first in even rounds. The lower numbered team goes first in rounds 13,15,17 etc.

----- FUTURE DRAFTS ------

Future drafts will be conducted by e-mail beginning in February and be 36 rounds. Protection lists will be due around January 17. The draft order will be worst to first in inverse order of team finish the previous year. The team that loses the first playoff round will draft 8th, the team that loses the championship game will draft 9th, and the team that wins the championship game will draft 10th.
